Our first real road trip with Sophie was to Freeport, Maine over Labor Day weekend 2015. Perfect weather and dog friendly accomodations, parks, and restaurants made for a great time.
This was our first real road trip with Sophie, destination Freeport, Maine for Labor Day weekend. First stop was lunch at the Chauncey Creek Lobster Pier in Kittery. Unfortunately, they had been banned from allowing dogs on the deck since the last time we were there several years ago :-( So, Sophie had to wait for us in the car while we had our first lobstah of the weekend.

Arrived at the classic Harraseeket Inn in Freeport, Maine late afternoon on Friday. We stayed in the carriage house, the white building in the background, that has dog-friendly rooms.
After a long day in the car, time for the women in the family to take a nap
The room was great, Sophie had her own dog-bed, although she seemed to prefer mommy and daddy's. They also put out food and water bowls, and lots of locally-made doggy treats.

Outside one of the LL Bean entrances, Dave couldn't resist himself
We took a day trip up to Bath, first stopping at Libby's Market in Brunswick. And why, you may ask....
Because Libby's Market, a little hole-in-the-wall by the train tracks on a back street in Brunswick, makes the most awesome lobster rolls. Max takes her lobster "roll" gluten-free style.
Helpful little lobsters are provided to assist you with your bottle of Allagash or Geary's
So, we made up to the South End Dog Park in Bath, Maine that I had found online. Yep, located just south of the Bath Ironworks on the Kennebec River. Technically, dogs are allowed off-leash, but we kept Sophie on the 30ft training lead just to play it safe.
