Hawaii 2014

We extended our trip to Hawaii this year, spending a couple of days in Honolulu with Deb and Mary before heading over to Kauai for two weeks at our Hanalei Bay Resort timeshare. As before, we booked two adjacent units. Max's brother Rob and his wife Janie joined us in the second unit for the first week, while Deb and Mary did a staycation with us the second week.

Oahu

We started our vacation by staying 3 days at the Modern Honolulu, towards the quiet end of Waikiki. This gave us a chance to visit with Deb and Mary and check out some of the new places since the last time we spent time on Oahu several years ago. It also allowed us to get timezone-adjusted before heading to Kauai.

Kauai

Max's brother Robbie and his wife Janie joined us for our first week on Kauai. It was their first time to Kauai, and in fact their first time to Hawaii. Deb and Mary came over from Oahu for the second week.

Diving

My initial North Shore diving plans were wiped out by high surf and iffy weather at the beginning of our stay on Kauai. It wasn't until Thursday that conditions had calmed and cleared enough to start blowing bubbles. I was also able to get in an incredible pair of twilight / night dives on the South Shore, which reminded me to ask myself why I had waited so long to do this again.
