5 After company-wide meetings in Normandy, I returned to the south of France for meetings with my tieam and found some time to explore St. Tropez. First stop, the Calanque et Plage (cove and beach) d'Abel Ballif in Saint-Raphaël, named after the first president of the Touring Club of France who, as a private citizen, initiated the adaptation of the French road network for tourists, organized the renewal of the French hotel industry, and advocated for government support of tourism. A huge plaque dedicated to Abel Ballif can be seen embedded in the embankment of the Corniche d'Or which he initiated the construction of in 1903.

10 St. Tropez was the first town on the coast to be liberated during World War II as part of Operation Dragoon. On the sea side of the harbor wall is this monument which reads "Honor and glory to the American, British, and French Navies who participated on August 15, 1944 in the invasion of Provence. The town of St. Tropez remembers the allied combatants who contributed to our liberation".

12 The Chapelle Sainte-Anne was built in 1618 on top of a hill overlooking Saint-Tropez. It was dedicated to Saint Anne, the patron saint of seamen, for protecting the town from the plague.
